More on the Presidential N3 Billion Grant.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Nigerian motion picture industry known as Nollywood, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan staged a special dinner for practitioners in Lagos. Held at the State House Marina, the event which was held under tight security, equally attracted top government officials and some state governors who came to show support for the industry.
At that event, President Jonathan announced a grant of N3 billion for the film industry, to be supervised by the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation Chief Edem Duke. Also supporting the industry, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio donated N50 million to the industry as the president's reward for creativity.
In his speech, the president acknowledged the pivotal roles Nollywood has played in promoting the image of Nigeria both within and outside the continent.
"There are three endeavours that unite Nigerians: sport, music and movies," he said.
